Roger and Phongsri Walker founded Tree of Life Christian Children's Center and Orphanage in 1998 and currently serve as Resident Director and Center Manager of the facility. They have been married for seventeen years and have six children of their own.

“The dream of the orphanage began in July 1989. While standing on a small rice field belonging to my wife, Phongsri, I saw a vision of a building with lots of children running in and out. I was so overcome with feelings of warmth and love, unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I envisioned a home for our family and orphaned children in Buriram, Thailand. In August 1990, I sent Phongsri to Buriram to begin the construction of our home. Over the next seven years, while living in Al Ain, we continued construction as funds were available. On January 1, 1998, we arrived in Thailand and took residence in our home. Less than one year later, on November 22, 1998, our home became the haven for orphans in Thailand. Tree of Life Christian Children's Center and Orphanage had begun.”

Tree of Life endeavors to provide a loving home, spiritual encouragement, as well as education opportunities for all the children in residence. All residents have living relatives that are either unwilling or unable to provide care for them, which prevents them from being legally adopted. Therefore, most children who come to Tree of Life, regardless of age, will most likely continue residence through University. The orphanage thus becomes a permaent home for its residents.
